Angela Wambu in Bridging Worlds Through Art
In The Version No One Sees, the artist reflects on the multiplicity of the self; the many identities we carry, reveal, or keep hidden. A figure appears fragmented across several mirrors, each reflection offering a different facet of who she is. The work becomes a meditation on inner truth: though we are the person we know most intimately, the world often sees only one version, never the whole. Beside her, a leopard emerges as a powerful symbol of solitude, confidence, and quiet independence. Leopards move alone, fully aware of their own strength, needing no validation from the outside world. In this context, the animal mirrors the inner resilience that others may overlook; the strength that lives beneath soft exteriors, the capabilities known only to oneself. Through these layered reflections, the piece invites us to consider the hidden parts of our identity: the private courage, the unseen depth, and the versions of ourselves that remain invisible to others yet define who we are within.
Angela’s work is a profound exploration of self—an artistic journey through the layers of human experience. Each self-portrait invites the viewer to connect with their vulnerabilities and identity, making her art deeply personal and universally relatable.
Her Mixed-Media work captures the delicate balance between the conscious and unconscious realms. Angela combines acrylics and oils to depict the tangible world we navigate daily, in contrast to the beadwork that represents the unconscious world—an intricate tapestry of fears, vulnerabilities, and hidden aspects of self. Through vibrant colours and meticulous placement of her glass beadwork, she creates a powerful dialogue between the seen and unseen aspects of our lives.
