The Battle Between Good and Evil Runs Through the Heart of Everyman, 2017

Size : 65 x 36 x 33 cm

Provenance: Direct from the artist

Wasswa is a sculptor based in Kampala. He likes to believe that his sculptures are alive. And certainly, they are, they evoke all kinds of emotions and characters when you encounter them. His sculptures speak to a future when robotic technology will have become part of our daily lives. He brings to life creatures full of personality, and dynamic postures, with a specific message for the audience. Wasswa’s works are gracefully built, with a lot of care put into the selection of materials, respect for the environment and the permanence of the artwork. Wasswa has managed to create artworks that are whole, and whose message takes time to unpack.

Wasswa studied Sculpture at Kyambogo University before beginning his multi-disciplinary practice. Born in 1984, Wasswa is the Merit Award winner in the pan-African Absa L’Atelier competition and has exhibited at the pan-African Ouagadougou Sculpture Biennial and internationally at 1:54 in Cromwell Palace.
