Hidden Stories from Egypt
There is a connection between the contemporary scene and the ancestral Egyptian civilization. Egypt has always been a global place.
The artists of this exhibition show therefore a wide range of artistic styles, motivations and aesthetic principles, showcasing the evolution of contemporary art, from experimental craftwork with materials like Mohamed Elganoby, to dialogue among expression media, with approaches like Ashraf Rasslan and Walid Taher, the emotional narrative of movement, like Eveline Ashamalla; from Expressionism (Hala El Sharouny), to a generational reinterpretation of past art (from Basem Yousri to Salah Elmur), or the analysis of a woman in the modern Egypt (Souad Abdel Rasoul).
This exhibition is a result of a visit to Cairo during the summer of 2017, where we have been introduced to several world class artists from different circles, ages and influences. We thank the artists for their warm welcoming and the excellent relationship that has grown since then.
GravitArt Gallery wants to show that Egypt is also the spark that ignites culture from North Africa to the whole Middle East. The current social evolution and human scenarios in Cairo spread also with the work of their artists and become a tangible influence. The resonance of the art displayed on this exhibition is reaching places beyond our boundaries.
