Abushariaa was born in 1966 in Omdurman, Sudan. He has a Bachelor of Fine arts from the College of Fine and Applied Arts at Sudan University (1986-1990). He is a member of the Sudanesse Artists Association, the Drawing Society and the South African Society of Artist.
Abushariaa left Sudan in the mid 90s and settled for some years in Nairobi, and later lived for a short period in Cologne, Germany.
Since 2000 Abushariaa lives and works in Kampala and Uganda.
Abushariaa has exhibited extensively in East Africa and in countries such as Canada, Germany, Denmark, Monaco and the UK.
