Here we are observing the concept of the tree as a transaction, where the woman can get shadow and food for the body and for her thoughts. The pleasure in resting in a shadow, the reward after the effort, after the sacrifice.
The elements on the scene are the tree, the lady, a rope, a goat, and a bird. The lady plays the role of the unconscious. She holds the unconscious feelings of the other characters but as in the other paintings, she is also the archetype of mother nature. The bird plays a femenine role in movement and also is the sky. The goat plays the role of the ground and it is a masculine character. The bird is above the goat, separating the different levels, sky and ground.
